is it possible to become funny and learn how to create your own jokes? i think everyone just likes funny people. I feel like im competing with people for friendship and the funny ones always get friends.

Sure. Funny is good. Word association is a really good way to do that. Also willful misinterpretation in a joking tone.
You can practice in your spare time by saying something, then trying to make it as ridiculous as you can. You can train your quick wittiness that way. Practice makes perfect.
Playing a character, attempting accents--if you fuck up the accent, it's even better, then you can make a witty remark about it and have some good laughs.
