Am I a hoarder or a loser?

I've kept the skateboard I rode back in the late 70s/ early 80s. I only have to look at it and I'm right back there.

Alpine sports deck
Californian slalom trucks
Lime green translucent Kryptonic wheels

What can't you let go of?

@BlackClapTrap god you know me so well. I do a lot of cycling now. Unfortunately 30 years of office work, family etc made it hard to sustain that youthful core strength. I found it even harder in my forties. Proper skateboarding does need a level of fitness that's just there when you're a teen. So maybe some down hill cruising. I can do that! Live life dude and all that 😁

One skateboard isn't hoarding. A dozen now might be

@Fungirlmmm haha, so true

I keep things I like or find interesting. Or spark memories and are flat like paper. I keep them in a scrapbook. I regularly get rid of stuff though.

@Vampireloveless that's really sweet
Vampireloveless · 26-30, F
Yeah it helps me remember what has happened in life :)

@Vampireloveless hopefully all the good things and long may they continue

My 'Tufty Club' badge and hanky and my little panda that was given to me when I was born.
My skateboard was a fluorescent yellow colour by the way.

No, no. I'm not THAT local. Besides, I moved around a lot as a child, so I skateboarded on whatever road I lived on. Home-made ramps from planks of wood etc. I have seen where you are talking about though, I didn't realise that was around for so many years.

@pennynoodles skate city, I think is long gone but south Bank (beneath the theatre) was just an undercroft that had some smooth ramps that lent itself. Plus it was in view of people walking the Thames path so attracts people to stop ans watch. Iconic place. I forgot you were nomadic as a child, apols xxx

I have lived in 24 different houses in my life. A little nomadic, yes. @Ironicman

I think you're just nostalgic.

@SW-User that's cool you've kept those. I still have my Dennis the Menace fan club membership wallet and badge. There is more, you see I'm a bloody hoarder.

I keep gifts. They’re the physical representation of a time someone thought about you when you weren’t in front of them and that has always squeezed my heart. There’s a lot of random shit in my house. 😂 I think it’s lovely you kept your skateboard. The things that make us happy are worth keeping. 🙂👍

@JustNik It was a birthday gift my mum and dad couldn't really afford. I remember the trip to the specialist shop and having the board made up with all the different parts I'd researched. The board gave me 5 years of joy and passion, doing a sport in which I made new friends. For that I love my parents. It's only my mum left now. She knows I still have it. Xx

@Ironicman oh that’s just beautiful. It’s perfect that you still have it. ❤️❤️❤️
