Depending on what you're trying to do, Win 10 has a built in video editor which might be good enough.
Otherwise I've been digging around too for free software for creating youtube videos. I've come across "OpenShot Video editor", which is better, but is still pretty rough around the edges.
If you want to pay for something, I've had a good experience with Adobe Premiere Elements in the past. I don't know if it's still good or not though.
