It’s not even about coercive rapey stuff 🙄 Must people always have to bandwagon everything!? Ugh

I ought to say no, no, no sir (Mind if move in closer?)

At least I'm gonna say that I tried (What's the sense of hurtin' my pride?)

I really can't stay (Baby don't hold out)

It sounds coercive and rapey to me.
@SW-User yes, well it would wouldn’t it because popular opinion told you it should 😂 🧟‍♀️ 🐑

Right... this song was originally released in 1953. A very different time with regard expected behaviour.

The man wants he to stay, & the girl wants to stay, but because it’s 1953 she’s afraid of a loss to her reputation & so is spitting out these weak excuses as to why she must leave. He on the other hand is trying to coex her to stay because he likes her, not because she prey & he’s a predator.

It’s excusiatingly obvious if you actuslky listen to the song in a 1950s context!

@SevenTierCrazyCake so everyone that disagrees with you is a sheep who is incapable of independent thought? The song depicts a man using coercion and alcohol to get what he wants. That was and still is more common than a stranger in the dark when it comes to rape.
@SW-User I’ll bet you the thought that it meant anything else than what I’ve said never crossed your mind until a load of milenial feminists suggested it. Lol!
