@SW-User The first photo is above the Alpine Visitor Center in Rocky Mountain National Park. Notice how my hat is twisted! It was windy! That was a weary climb, since it is steep and the air is thinner (it is above 12,000 ft).
@SW-User The weather is gorgeous. They are in a heat wave! Usually it starts to snow in a few weeks. Yet it has been 50-60 on top of the mountains, 70-80 in the valleys, and 90 in Denver.
The land is bone dry, too, and I saw smoke from wildfires. All the reservoirs are low.
@JoyfulSilence Yes, jogging my memory, I remember drives from NYC to south Texas and through the Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge mountains when it was stunning. I believe they were mid October.
Also I routinely crossed the Ozark's, northwest Arkansas, southern Missouri for years and prime time may be like late October.
Based on present weather in the heartlands still being pretty hot, fall may be just a little later this year.
