I'm still trying to figure out what it even is...

@ScrewThisImDone It was more of a subculture in the late 00s and has now just kind of changed into a generic word for someone with a big beard and vintage T shirt who makes sausage or fancy coffee.
@ScrewThisImDone I’m still confused but I think it’s beanies/vegans/Starbucks drinks/ other things

@RemovedUsername650611 Not -really-.

It came about in Brooklyn in the 00s and is a group of people obsessed with authenticity. In a world where everything is corporatized and manufactured and cynical, the focus was on stuff that felt 'real'. At the same time, there's a huge detached irony. So a celebration of stuff that was kitschy and stupid at the time.

So that means things like vinyl records, old-timey facial hair, 80s T-shirts. A -lot- of effort put into achieving a certain look.

And rather than vegans and Starbucks, they're the kinds of people you now find in high-end coffee shops or butcher shops. High-quality food is a huge deal. If you walk into a local coffee shop and its being poured by someone with a stupid mustache, that coffee is gonna be REALLY REALLY great.

I was called a hipster but not sure why
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
I am. I hate buying into hype because I think it encourages bad behavior.
