yes, though not so common these days
I know people who bought original Lowes Hardware stock that are worth several hundred million today.
And anyone who bought into Yahoo, Google, Amazon, etc. early on probably turned out pretty well

for a while, lowes was splitting stock 2-3 times a year for several years... basically doubling investment every time. I had some for a while, tripled money in 18 months
