Bit of a rocky start, but im getting it🤗

Day 6 of fasting.

After a few hiccups with tight muscles and a kind of 'flittering' feeling of my heartbeat for a day....i think im finally getting it.

Lessons learnt:
- you need waaaay more salt than you think. Like a teaspoon or more of salt a day, (on top of electrolytes).
- electrolytes are PARAMOUNT
- Vitamin B1 helps.

- I also added creatine to help keep everything hydrated.
- and extra D3, K2, and magnesium.

I feel....... really good. Clear.

I think i might even be sleeping better

Got mega pissed off at something this morning, but im now calm and over it. (Normally id rant away to myself for a while to destress), but im good👍

The fluttery feeling was fixed by having two cups of soup made from salty stock powder....and (dont laugh)....slowly licking a teaspoon of Vegemite while watching a movie😏,
(Normally that'd be nutella).

I think im really getting this fasting thing.

Im also dealing with the heat of summer better. Normally it wipes me out so much i gotta keep getting in the shower to cool off.

I do keep googling food tho😂

How often do you fast?
@Perry1968 last year i started trying 1 - 3 day fasts about once a month. (Maybe longer - it was just when i felt like it).

Did a lot of reading on it and discovered people who have fasted for like 20 - 30+ days, once a year.

I wanted to try it.
So this is my first attempt at an extended fast.
- there's a lot to learn about how to eat before fasting, suppliments needed during, and how to start eating again.

I did make a mistake once before, and ate a regular meal after a fast and felt very ill for two days.

@OogieBoogie Ah brilliant. Ive been reading up on it but with mixed reviews. Its a start slow thing isnt it? That makes sense with the salt. Electrolytes. Would cucumber juice be a cheat? Its full of Electrolytes thats all. I have done 18. 24 hours. Days years ago wothout choice. But i do want to try this but try it safely. Cleanse myself. The eating after i guess must be a very small meal for your stomach to adjust again?
@Perry1968 What i can recommend is go keto first.
Eating on a ketogenic diet puts you into ketogenesis while still being able to eat meals.

This is one of the hurdles of fasting.
Sugar, carbs and starches raise blood glucose and lead to crashes....which lead to cravings.
Cut them out a week or so before and it makes slipping into fasting way easier.

(I've been trying to stay keto for months, so missing sugar and bread and stuff wasnt an issue)

Get a good electrolyte mix, not a standard one. You can get ones that include a good spectrum of vitamins as well.
Coz its not just about the standard salt and potassium...we need more than that if we arent to deplete body stores.

Make use of spices. Ginger is particularly brilliant. They encourage metabolism. Tumeric and black pepper help reduce inflammation even more.

You got to think when you start to refeed that you've just done a full on cleanse - so heres tje chance to reset your microbiome; so its about GOOD food. REAL food. Food that has enzymes like sauercraut, avacado, yoghurt, vegetable soup. NO PROCESSED STUFF.

General rule: however long a fast u'v done - it takes half that time again to get back to eating normal. So..
10 day fast - take 5 days to slowly get back into food.

I dont know much about cucumber juice, sorry.

Hope this helps

@OogieBoogie Thats great info. Thank you. Like you were im well on my way to keto. I did have a slice of pizza first time in months though lol. But normally i eat eggs. Duck and chicken from a nearby farm. Fresh vegetables and seasonal veggies.Onions. Ginger. Garlic. Tumeric. Cayenne pepper. Avacados. Real olive oil. Only eat good quality dark chocolate but i know its not great so small amounts. And i love Kefir. Unflavoured of course. I really want to crawl down safely to do this. I see you are doing well. Does it work well for you? What benefits have you found if you dont mind me asking?
@Perry1968 this is great to see someone else who understands how wonderful and health giving good food can be🤗

Its been working GREAT .

I was on medication....and have been prescribed medication for other things over the last few years...and I've managed to come off every one the Doctor puts me on.
(I mean.... some of the meds ive kept jic i have an uncontrollable flare, but really, i dont use them)

Ive fixed, mood (mostly), inflammation of joints and working on gut atm, (hence the fast). Anxiety, back pain, high blood pressure, cholesterol, pre diabetes, ummm wot else? ...
...general tiredness, improved hair, nails, and skin.... sinus issues....also really bad heartburn..
.... just generally i feel better than i did years ago, and im on no medication 🤷‍♀

Im a convert.
Its fixed so many little and big things ...i just now feel healthier. Clearer.

And its not like i dont indulge - i do. Its just not very often.

My taste buds have changed. I dont want bread so much anyore...or pasta. Sugar isnt a thing anymore.
Sometimes some things are too sweet now.
Well.....except chocolate 😂
But like you i only get the good stuff.
Was only researching chocolate yesterday actually.

Kinda jello you can get proper fresh eggs.
I try to buy as local as i can.
Im lucky to live in tasmania which has clean farming, but its out produce has become very trendy world wide ....so now good organic food jas gotten a bit pricey.

Still.....better to spend it on food than useless crap.

I'm now just trying to replace all my plastic ware with glass if i can.

Eating like this has made stuff easier. I actually buy less.

Cooking is simpler....its also quicker.

I think i love it.

The only thing i miss is sour dough bread and croissants😏
They are my weakness
