My sister is a nurse and says a lot of the same things

My husband, during his fourteen month cancer battle, was in the hospital 183 days. I visited every one of those days.

There are jerks in hospitals just like there are jerks anywhere else. But most nurses, doctors, aids, lab techs - everybody - are committed, caring and kind.

The day after he was released, to go home for hospice, I sent lunch to his hospital wing. Shrimp, sliders, side dishes, and a THANK YOU cake.

I was more than surprised when both of his surgeons called me to say thanks for “The shrimp. The potato salad. The cake.” One added, “And for the privilege of treating your husband. It was a genuine privilege.”

Make no mistake. We weren’t rich, but I wanted to show appreciation for those who cared for Tim like real family.

@Mamapolo2016 that was sweet
@Lilnonames It was honest. They were good to him.
As I sit here, 6 weeks after unexpectedly losing my 32 year old daughter, I am so very grateful for every single person who worked on her behalf. The nurses, doctors, psychiatrist, janitor, x-ray tech, social worker and on and on. Those that fought so hard for her. I am humbled by their service. Thank you for what you do. You make a difference.

As an ex-paramedic and having been married to a nurse I have to say there is nothing but respect for all you do. My hospital stays have been made more pleasant by the care I got.

I do have to say that the hospice nurses that cared for my wife were the angels on Earth. How they dealt with her and myself as she slowly slipped away was extraordinary. You deserve all the rewards the universe has to give.

@SageWanderer So much respect to you for being an ex-paramedic that’s a hard and stressful but important job!

I never met a nurse who was not compassionate and considerate.

aww good for them ☺
Some years ago I had surgery and was in the hospital for a month. The nurses were wonderful. They were very kind to me and to my parents, who came every day. After I was released I sent a gift to the nurses’ station. I found out later my sister did, too.

Have to be nice. Nurses work hard and can make or ruin your day.

I think that interpesonal kindness in general makes a difference. This world was here long before us, and will keep going well after we've moved on. One of the (usually) few real choices we get to make is how we'll change it as we pass through. Why not opt for more kindness and compassion?

Definitely one must be polite n good to all not only nurses or doctors but even to the guy who sweeps the roads ,the policemen,fire brigade guys everyone deserves respect n be appreciated unless they deserve a kick by their actions ..show respect gratitude to all ..if they act funny do kick hard too.
