My life has been saved.

My life has been saved bygetting shock therapy.
Peaceful · F
I'm glad it helped you.
Beelzebub · F
I want it desperately
EPixieWitch · 31-35, F
@Beelzebub: then ask for it
Beelzebub · F
@EPixieWitch: I have everytime I end up in hospital but I have SZA so they're reluctant to do it
Jay04Sch · 46-50, F
I've heard terrible stories about shock therapy. In which way did it help.
Jay04Sch · 46-50, F
@firefall: I agree with you this kind off treatment is very misunderstood because it was abused in earlier years. I'm definitely going to educate myself more on this type off treatment, it's ignorance going on hearsay stories and drawing conconclusion from that.
Jay04Sch · 46-50, F
@hlpflwthat: It's my own ignorance drawing conclusions on stories. I'm definitely going to educate myself more on this kind off treatment.

No worries. My initial response was similar. I saw 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' when it came out. But think of the advances in heart surgery or cancer treatment since the 70s. ECT is a pretty different ballgame today. Really wish I'd known it 3 years sooner. Peace.

I asked for it, but wasn't 'qualified' apparently.
hlpflwthat · M
@donontario: I wonder why that would be. Do you have any memory issues?
donontario · 70-79, M
I was told I have PTSD and depression, but don't fit the diagnosis of 'clinical depression'. The meds do the job now, but there are always side effects.

Had meds done any good, I'm not sure my mom would have done the ECT. We were able to go outside her primary network And get a consult at Mayo. Night & day difference in approach to ECT. Her primary treated ECT more like some kinda last resort. Mayo seems to treat it more like another tool in the box - can be used with the others.

So what was it - 4 treatments so far?
EPixieWitch · 31-35, F
@hlpflwthat:
@hlpflwthat: yep
hlpflwthat · M
That's really great. My mom's improvement has continued even now - months following her treatments.

Glad it's worked for you - when it works it can be magical in effect :)

@OrangeLettuce: what do you mean?
Jay04Sch · 46-50, F
@OrangeLettuce: No help for ignorance
OrangeLettuce · 46-50, F
@Jay04Sch: no help for haters
