I can't even step on a bug without sobbing at snuffing out a life...I have no right to do that. I won't let anyone into my life who can kill animals. Even when people fish I don't want to hear about how they "release" them...like that makes it ok to pierce their flesh with a hook, pull them put of the water so they begin to suffocate, rip the fekking hook out of their mouths then toss them back that way...how humane...and this is FUN?

Are you a vegetarian?
Fernie · F
@NigelDoes: I worked in a meat factory many years ago...they took us to a slaughterhouse...It's in my head as if it happened 5 minutes ago...I have not eaten flesh since then...31 years

Good for you . I admit that I'm a complete hypocrite in that I know about the atrocity of factory farming and yet I do still eat meat. Just far less than I used to.
Fernie · F
@NigelDoes: No...not a hypocrite Nigel. Eating meat is burned into our culture. All I ask is that more people understand how horribly these animals are treated at the end of their lives so that will change. It does not have to be that way but it is human greed and mass producing that are the issue. Clearly you are a compassionate person and that makes all the difference.

I was vegetarian for about seven months until I slipped, but I'm hoping I can give up eating animals altogether for good at some point. I rarely eat beef and I do make a point to buy free range chicken.
Fernie · F
@NigelDoes: Exactly! Paying attention to how they are killed makes a huge difference. Right now it seems that only folks with a few bucks can afford to buy the humanely killed meats...if more of us were aware and bitched about the treatment of the animals...that would change and we could all afford to buy it...I know humans will always eat meat but shit...have a conscience

I completely agree with you. I should force myself to watch a documentary on factory farming again , which is what got me to stop eating meat for seven months. I really don't have any excuses other than the fact that I love chicken and fish.
Fernie · F
@NigelDoes: even after all these years I salivate at the smell of cooking meat...BBQ's are the worst! You might one day stop eating it...the older we get the less meat we eat generally

Good on you for sticking to your principles though. That's a hell of a lot of willpower. You at least convince me to make lentil soup for dinner tonight. :-)

@NigelDoes: ha! Legumes are my meat substitute! Nigel...thank you for being awake and aware
NigelDoes · 56-60, M
I need to become more so. Legumes are amazing and so nutritious and versatile. I wish I didn't live in the land of taco trucks.
Fernie · F
@NigelDoes: your colon thanks you for all that roughage which we don't ever get with red meat. mmmmm...taaacooos
NigelDoes · 56-60, M
Yeah, I blame Mexico and their fantastic cuisine for not being able to stop eating meat.😉

@NigelDoes: BASTARDS!!! oh, now I am craving a giant Taco salad in one of those tortilla bowls...nothing like that around here...thanks a lot Nigel!!!

Sorry. Hehe
