Anyone have any goals for becoming healthier?

Personally speaking, I want to drop a couple of pounds, build a little more muscle, and most importantly, keep improving my control of my diabetes.

I have since November, have lost 35 pounds and got my hormones balanced through diet especially having Resistance Starches at each meal.

@jfinn298: I figured I was within a year of becoming a diabetic if I didn't do something, researched what I could do (using my symptoms for search terms) and came up with Resistant Starch diet. I've heard it's good for diabetics too. I stopped eating sugar and grains, the carbs I eat are beans, potatoes (usually cold because they have higher levels of Resistant starch) and lower carb veggies and fruits (such as berries), nuts and seeds.

@cherokeepatti: That is great. I have been diabetic for over 16 years, I was only 4 when they diagnosed me. I see how dietary changes can have such a big impact, regardless of whether you have type one, like myself, or type two, or pre-diabetes, etc.

@jfinn298: Resistant starches are necessary to feed a vital colon bacteria (and also work as a starch blocker)...the bacteria creates something to balance hormones and regulate neurotransmitters. One thing that was bothering me and getting worse was some horrible muscle cramps, worse than typical cramps...I fell down a couple of times and felt like I might have had a brain problem but never got checked. It doesn't happen now, and it had gone on for several years.

@cherokeepatti: Glad those issues have been resolved.

@jfinn298: That starch creates butyrate and the lack of it is linked to some serious health problems, at least 22 scientifically proven including cancer, depression, obesity, blood sugar, allergies, etc. I have a feeling that the pharmaceutical industry/medical establishment knows this and most doctors don't even discuss diet because if people could cure their own problems there wouldn't be enough patients to pay their bills.

@cherokeepatti: Precisely, at the end of the day, it is still a business to the medical industry and their intent is on making $
