I feel dumb asking this, but...

...what do people eat for lunch when they don't like to cook at all? I have some really bad eating habits, and I have also gained weight from that and a medication I was on for awhile. I would like to be more healthy, because my physical state is contributing to these horrible moods I get in. I do like fruits and veggies, but I actually only eat them when they are in the prepared foods I have. Once in awhile I'll have a banana or some watermelon or a nectarine or two. I have looked up "one ingredient lunches" online, but it's never just one ingredient: the wisdom being that it's not a balanced meal. I really love PB&J, but I buy the frozen ones...does that count??? Again, I feel silly, but I could use some advice, for real.

Reducing sugar is good, eat whole foods and stay away from processed foods, because you have no idea what they did and what they put in them. Grains are bad because they are genetically altered

@masterofyou good points grains are also bad because they contain gluten which is extremely hard to break down

@masterofyou @Blackie You should know what is put in loosely-named "processed foods", surely, by the ingredients list on the labels? Perhaps nutritional information too, including the proportions of sugar and salt?

By no means all foods are "genetically altered" - if you mean altered more artificially than by the genetic alteration by selective breeding since the earliest farmers started making wild plants more edible.

Further, there is no evidence that any such modification is harmful. The fear may arise from a combination of eating GM foods, a fear and ignorance of science, and correlation with illnesses arising from poor diet.

Gluten cannot be that bad, since humans have thrived on plants (mainly gluten and cellulose) since time immemorial. Some people are phsyiologically intolerant of, or allergic to, assorted, natural food compounds but I would like to know if

- a) this has been recognised only fairly recently so seems a "new" problem; and

- b) such problems might be influenced, induced or exacerbated by bad diets?
