If a person just had a heart attack or stroke should you give them aspirin?

The NEW first aid says you shouldn't

If they're on blood thinners you don't. otherwise they say you should.

Makes sense as aspirin does thin your blood.
@curiosi: even the slightest bit can cause internal bleeding if taken with other blood thinners. I don't trust the newer blood thinners at all.

@CallmeHopelessNotRomantic: If the person is already on blood thinners Aspirin would not help
@MikefromEP: it would harm them. They would start bleeding internally.

@CallmeHopelessNotRomantic: My friend has had a stroke and he is not on blood thinners.
@MikefromEP: was it a tia? Because I've had one and I'm supposed to be on them but refuse to take them. TIA doesn't do as much damage as hemorrhagic. I hope it was a TIA for his sake.

@CallmeHopelessNotRomantic: TIA on Christmas Eve.. and another one started last night...
@MikefromEP: ok. Was it another tia or did it actually cause serious damage? Mine was from a rupture in my carotid that went to my cerebellum. I should have died and they have no idea how I didn't. That was 7 years ago. Then the blood thinner almost killed me so I refuse to take it now.
