My throat hurts from coughing a lot. What do I do?

I have a concert tonight and my mom is forcing me to go even though I am coughing almost nonstop. My BROTHER asked me if I'm okay (he's 9, so he doesn't actually have emotions) and I said no.

@Rene1027: while performing, dedicate a cough to your mom.

@Rene1027: What instrument ya play?

@TraumenDenkener: Flute. I can't cough while playing it. One of our songs has a little singing, but I can just lip sync.

@Rene1027: Tell the band leader or whoever is in charge of your predicament before playing, let the coughing thing be widely known in general so if any mistakes occur, they will cause awkwardness for mommy dearest also, teaching her this lesson of unfairly making you go through it might be the wake up call she needs.

@TraumenDenkener: I should have her make sure it isn't strep, just so I don't risk getting getting anyone (especially my grandma) sick.
