What does it mean when your tongue feels like sandpaper and it burns?

I have seen 3 doctors and 2 dentists and they shrug. None of them has a clue. They tell me not to worry. I've had it for about 5 months. I got it at the same time I got an ear infection and had a tooth extraction. The ear infection got cleared up with an antibiotic and the extraction has healed OK.

Not that I wish to freak you out or anything. But if your doctors can't figure it out. Might be worth talking to a homeopathic specialist. Or, maybe even a Chinese herbalist.
Could be your symptoms make perfect sense to them and they might have a differing treatment .
Can't hurt to ask.

I've tried a Chinese herbalist. They are usually pretty good but it did not help. No more money now so I am dependent on Kaiser doctors who treat me like a nervous old lady trying to get attention. One doctor listened to all my symptoms, then got up, shook my hand and said, "Nice seeing you!" I had to stop him and ask that he at least look at my throat. He came back wearily, looked into my throat, then said it was good seeing me and started to exit the room! I asked him what about my throat. He said, "I didn't see anything!" Then...he left. It's very frustrating.
