What does it mean when your tongue feels like sandpaper and it burns?

I have seen 3 doctors and 2 dentists and they shrug. None of them has a clue. They tell me not to worry. I've had it for about 5 months. I got it at the same time I got an ear infection and had a tooth extraction. The ear infection got cleared up with an antibiotic and the extraction has healed OK.

My only suggestion is to maybe try rinsing your mouth with warm salt water several times a day. It might not help, but it certainly can't hurt.

I'll try it. I have already tried hydrogen peroxide held in my mouth for 5-10 minutes a day.

@greenmountaingal: my fall back treatment is always salt water. For so many things.
