Moonshine with peppermint sticks melted in it, it will make you forget you're sick! Hope you feel better soon

Usually I can get it with airborne and rest, but this bugger has held on despite all my attempts to get rid of it.
NigelDoes · 56-60, M
There's a product I take called Zycam that is Zinc based and it really does seem to decrease the duration of colds.

I've been taking airborne. Lots of good vitamins in there. 🙂

The immune system is fuelled by Vitamin C.

When ill (or under the weather because illness is about to overtake us), taking 4 or 5 effervescent Vit. C tablets in water (not 5 at once, but taken individually at different times during the day/night), apparently halves the duration of colds etc.

No point taking Vitamin C supplements when we are in good health though. Our bodies get enough of it from food to keep our immune systems ticking over.

Not true at all actually. Scroll down to my earlier response here.

if you are coughing, rub vicks on the soles of your feet. if you have congestion, try mucinex.
HeavenBesideYou · 56-60, F
Just went to the clinic. Got antibiotics, a steroid, and some kick ass cough syrup.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@HeavenBesideYou: then you are all set. Feel better
HeavenBesideYou · 56-60, F
Thanks Darlin. I hope so. This thing has kicked my butt and I rarely get sick. @akindheart:
Vitamin C ,rest and plenty of fluid
NigelDoes · 56-60, M
"Overall, experts have found little to no benefit from vitamin C for preventing or treating the common cold. In a July 2007 study, researchers wanted to discover whether taking 200 milligrams or more of vitamin C daily could reduce the frequency, duration, or severity of a cold". Whoops, not sure what happened to the rest of that quote. :-) There have been quite a few studies done that have shown vitamin C doesn't do much if anything for colds.
@NigelDoes: Good because i'm not an expert. It works for me

Seems like if I drink lemon or lime juice (a whole lime squeezed into a glass of water) about 4 times a day that helps a whole lot, it alkalizes the body which makes it hostile environment for germs to grow.
HeavenBesideYou · 56-60, F
Good suggestion! I have some lemons. Thanks Patti

Chopped lemons whisky n honey with a little hot water normally does it for me x hope u feel better soon x
HeavenBesideYou · 56-60, F
Thanks. I am on antibiotics but this thing won't just go away. I may just try that later, since I've tried just about everything else.

Black elderberry syrup. And Gypsy Cold Care Tea.
SagePoet · 70-79, M
Gaia makes the black elderberry syrup, great stuff, and Traditional Medicinals makes the tea. I used to manage at the Vitamin Shoppe back in the 1980's in NYC and I research everything as I am looking for alternative cures...this combination lessens the severity and length of colds and flu. @HeavenBesideYou:

@feathers11: I like airborne and that works for that as well. Just a bunch of vitamins to boost the ol immune system. I'll keep those in mind though, next time I get a cold. 👍
SagePoet · 70-79, M
Not familiar with airborne, will check it out.@HeavenBesideYou:
HeavenBesideYou · 56-60, F

Booze, alcohol kills germs
HeavenBesideYou · 56-60, F
Pretty much over it, but thanks. I actually tried that with some jack with honey a few times. Nothing seemed to knock it out.

HeavenBesideYou · 56-60, F
I went to the clinic and now have antibodies fighting it for me. Feeling much better now. 😊
