Would you give up 5 years of your total live expectancy ...

if you were guaranteed to be 100% complete healthy for the remaining time ?
Degbeme · 70-79, M
At my age I don`t know if I have 5 years left. 🤔😁
Coppercoil · M
@Degbeme you better!!!
Fauxmyope2 · 26-30, F
I want both! I watched my 29 year old sister die of cancer, my mom died when I was 12 and she died alone. I want to die in my sleep when I am old. Very old!

@SquirrelGirl I realize that I will not be given a choice. I have lived that.

@Fauxmyope2 sorry for your loss.

That's a very good question, I guess the answer would come down to how much I have left, I'd just about have to know that to make the decision

What if I had 5 years and a couple days left, not a great trade

But if it were, say, 20 years, 13 years in perfect health is far better than 20 years in who knows what condition
th3r0n · 41-45, M
@SquirrelGirl well my great grandfather lived to 110 if I recall, and nearly all the way was capable of working on a farm

Depending on how active I remain, I might have quality of life as long as I live
@th3r0n of course... some people do. but people dieing alone in a nursing home is becoming more and more normal. i cant find it now but i read a statistic that about 15% of the people over 80 dieing dont even have anyone organizing a funeral for them

@SquirrelGirl I believe that, I’ve had older friends and it seems like they have less and less friends as they get older, and at that age sometimes all your family is dead, it becomes pretty depressing

This is such an intriguing question. I honestly don’t know. Ideally yes so that I could really live the fullest life possible and die without pain. I wonder if there’s more humility or any other lessons I would learn from not choosing the 5 yr option.

Wow difficult one haha what if I just have 10 years left. Very tough and difficult to decide. But sounds like a good option

The knowledge that you owed that debt would ruin the quality of your life.
I've given up far more than 5 years of it...and for a fat lot of fuck all too...
