Is this the part where I say "I told you so?'

Covid 19 is on the rise again in 20 states in America a couple of weeks into those States starting to open up and lift restrictions. Second wave here we come and with the two to three week lag its too late to stop it now. Those "I cant Breathe" protestors will only fuel that fire in a week or two.

Considering the incubation period is estimated to be 5-6 days, I think that protests and riots would be a large contributor to the rise in infections.

@HannahBee Sadly up to two weeks without symptoms but still highly contagious is quite common. Those protests didnt help one bit. Nor will regional floods now happening. given the further lag for people to get REALLY sick and end up in hospital and this is going to get much worse again. Its stay inside or gloves masks and hand sanitiser time again. I hope everyone stocked up.

@whowasthatmaskedman If you really look at the numbers and what the ‘experts’ are saying, they think it’s most like 5-6 days, unless it’s different country to country, but that’s the information we get in Canada. Two weeks is extra long and they know that so there’s a ‘buffer’ just in case. Can’t be too careful. We’ve been opening up here and our cases haven’t increased dramatically. It also depends on how reckless your population is.

@HannahBee I would still like to hear about those numbers in another couple of weeks. By which time if I;m right your area will be in big trouble. It would have been smarter to err on the side of caution
HannahBee · F
@whowasthatmaskedman Considering we’ve been open for over a month and currently have 8 active cases, I don’t think you’re correct about that. If anything, our protest Friday will be what causes the numbers to spike.
HannahBee · F
@whowasthatmaskedman Also, since we started opening, our numbers have only continued to decrease.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@HannahBee There is that lag again. Nothing happens for a couple of weeks, then no matter what you do, the numbers rise for a couple of wekks. (Plus whatever lag toy have in testing in your area.)
HannahBee · F
@whowasthatmaskedman A couple is two, we have been open for 5 weeks. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Numbers have been constantly going down, with the odd new case (usually relates to travel), so no....I’m sorry but you’re wrong. Hundreds of tests performed daily and anyone can go, even if they aren’t feeling ill.

@HannahBee Not being in America I can afford to wait a few weeks to find out. I hope you can as well.

@whowasthatmaskedman I don't even understand your point. I think you need to stop deciding that you know what's best in the places you don't live in. As I've said, we opened up over 5 weeks ago, there has not been a rise in covid numbers. If we have a spike, the culprit will 100% be the protest that happened Friday, not the fact that our economy has opened up. People here are smart, it's not like the US here where people are acting somewhat recklessly with things opening. We have 8 total cases and most of them, if not all, are isolate (4 are actually in the same home). By all means, continue to share your knowledge about where I love though. If you think it takes a couple of weeks for us to see a spike in cases from opening, we have well passed that marker and have gone down from just under 40 cases to the 8 we now have in that time. So sure, I'll wait a couple weeks and report back to you, but we'll be in the same situation, providing the protest didn't create a spike, again I say, the protest, because clearly we can handle our economy opening up.

@HannahBee I am not going to be so rude as to ask where you live. Clearly if your facts are correct you are in a fortunate position. Enjoy is. 20 states are not so lucky. And Pandemics dont know squat from borders. They understand spread.. And if you open up and DONT keep social distance and protection them a handfull of cases becomes a contagion in a few weeks.
I dont have to prove my point. Its been proved in New York, Brazil, Britain and Mumbai. If you managed to get lucky in your corner of the world thats good for you. Its time to be Frozen and let it go.

@whowasthatmaskedman I already said in an earlier comment that I am in Canada and I have given enough information about what's going on in my province for anyone to figure that out. All my actual comment was about is that the speed is more likely due to protests. Our border to the US is closed, so it's not like there's a huge risk of it spreading from there to here. Travel within the country is so restricted and AGAIN people here are SMART. They are still social distancing, they are wearing masks, they aren't acting like nothing is going on. So please, stop telling me that we are doing things wrong. I'm telling you that it is possible to be open (as we have been for over FIVE weeks) and still control the covid spread. But of course, you know better, right?
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@HannahBee So you ARENT in any of the places I was talking about. Nor are you living under the treament rules that exist in the place I was refering to.. Exactly why did you comment on my post again???
I get that when you are young your opinion is right and needs to be heard. Okay. You got it. Now kindly drop it.
HannahBee · F
@whowasthatmaskedman No, obviously not and I stated that in a comment. If you read my original comment, I'm just telling you from MY experience what is going on here! I am saying that opening up has not caused an increase In covid here but these spikes the US are experiencing are likely caused by protests and that we will see if our protest here has caused an increase in cases or not really soon! It's not my fault that you got so offended over my comment that was meant just to give a little bit of perspective on what else could be contributing to the spike. Riots and protest have been going on long enough that it's VERY LIKELY a contributing factor. Since I'm assuming you are not American, my opinion on what's happening there is just as valid as yours.

@HannahBee Opening up once the virus has been controlled in the community is the only safe course for now. A point your nation and mine seem to have learned. And on that point of agreement I suggest we conclude.
HannahBee · F
@whowasthatmaskedman Gladly. Kind of tired of adults who overreact, seems most of you do that here.
