Who would have thought that I would overcome my nicotine addiction because my government forced me to ?

It's ridiculous but true !
Since lockdown started here on 26 March in South Africa the sale of tobacco and alcohol has been totally banned and still is banned.
That's almost 2 months !

I had enough tobacco for the initial 3 week ban but then that was extended. Then it was going to go back on sale on 1 May. I went to the shop to buy some only to discover that the ban had been extended.
So now I haven't smoked any tobacco for almost 5 weeks if I'm not mistaken.
So...I guess I have given up tobacco now. Imagine that ! I'm sort of grateful and irritated at my president. How do you thank someone while letting them know that you're not amused either ? 😏

Interesting 🤔 how is everything over there ? .... ( people’s mentalities )

Sounds like you’re personally cool about it all. What are others like ?

@SW-User Well...my cousin sister...you're from the south of darkest Africa yourself are you not ?
You know how varied us saffies are.
Can you imagine every person here, regardless of culture, wearing a facemask in public ? It's amazingly surreal and weirdly we all seem to be cooperating for now, mainly, for the most part.

A while back I had a chat with my rasta friend who makes money from busking mainly. He can't do that now and is battling to get money to feed his family. In his own words,"the government is treating us like rich Europeans by telling us to stay at home." He isn't happy and of course neither are many other poor people who have not seen any of the promised food parcels.

I am not seeing any black smoke in the distance from burning tyres though. I would say that so far people are being amazingly cooperative.
There are exceptions like my neighbor who has just unloaded 2 kegs of beer that he got who knows where for who knows how much for a party tonight. That's his business though and I am not keen to be an impimpi no matter how much I dislike him.
Thanks for asking. How are you and your family holding out on the other side of the pond ?

hey hey yep ons is ok hier dankie 😌

ek verstaan wat u sê rakende hoe dit in SA moet wees. ek weet ook dat u 'n intelligente en sterk nasie is van mense wat na die ander kant sal kom.

Eenheid in verskeidenheid.

jou buurman het die beste daarvan gemaak om nie betrokke te raak by drama nie, soos jy gesê het.

ook vir die dwase hier wat dink dat hulle immuun is! SMH

Hou sterk, vrede uit ✌🏻@Wraithorn

@SW-User Unity in variety. Interesting thought you wrote there. I think the same applies if one looks at the entire planet too. 🙂☮️
