Well it's finally happened here. How would you feel if face masks (or scarves) were mandatory? 馃

I must note this is because there is a problem with those that are asymptomatic.

That is those that may have the virus yet have no symptoms at all.

face masks and gloves don't actually work, and are only useful if you have the virus and wear the mask yourself

@maturedragon still it's is now a requirement with a heavy fine.
FreeSpirit151-55, F
@maturedragon who told you that? Why do think medical workers wear masks and gloves?

@maturedragon please read my edited post again.

@FreeSpirit1 the WHO has said you only need to wear a mask if you are: taking care of somebody who has the virus, coughing or sneezing

@maturedragon I will repeat ...
this is because there is a problem with those that are asymptomatic. That is those that may have the virus yet have no symptoms at all.
@DeWayfarer and that is the problem

@maturedragon Masks work. Gloves work. When used correctly, any barrier is effective. A common "dust mask" may not prevent you from getting sick but it can keep the person you're with from getting sick. An N95 or H99 mask will keep the virus from transmitting both ways. Latex gloves are impermeable and when worn for single use, are completely effective as a barrier.

The early warnings were likely a panic-dampening idea and designed to keep supplies available for health care workers...who wouldn't use them if they didn't work.

@Graylight it's odd why I kept a whole box of latex gloves around so long or why I have so much 91% and 93% rubbing alcohol for over 2 years. I had thought I might need that for other things. Yet they have lately come in handy. Unfortunately I didn't have the foresight to think of N95 masks. I could have once easily got them once just for the asking.

@DeWayfarer Right? And I'm usually all for global industry, but I found out ALL masks seem to be made in China. I think I'm experiencing a shift of perspective a bit.
DeWayfarer61-69, M
@Graylight 3M ones are. And they are the most popular. Yet not all are made in China. Note in the district of Colombia (Washington DC) only US products can be used in hospitals.
DeWayfarer61-69, M
@Graylight here you go. And they refuse to sell outside of the US...
