Father of an employee at another branch office of my company just passed away from the corona virus. The whole branch is under monitor.

They're searching for people who might have come in contact with the employee. But the company and government assured the situation is under control.

Where is this?

@plungesponge in India

That makes sense. Here in Australia, most companies are already working from home.

The Indian government does not have the situation under control though, not by a long shot

@plungesponge I beg to differ. The number of cases in India is lower than Australia. My company announced work from home since 3 weeks ago and we're in lockdown since last week. The deceased showed symptoms only last few days and the employee interacted with him on March 1st.

The number of cases is low because there's no testing. These were the crowds just a few days ago, this is perfect for the spread of the virus. It'll be bigger numbers than anyone has ever seen within 2 months

@plungesponge wow, you are stupid. If there was no testing, how come they know people are infected? There are over 4 testing centres and several isolation wards in my state alone. Also what you have shown is a city and before the lockdown. They were leaving for their home when PM was about announce the lockdown. The whole country is not packed with people.

@plungesponge Indian government announced lockdown even before other countries did, because they know how populated the country. Also they screened people arriving the country at the airport as soon as the outbreak happened. In fact most of the infected were either tourists or Indians who visited abroad. No communal spread has been reported.

@JBird Sure. I'm stupid. Let's check on the situation in 2 months.

2 months later - how is India going with the virus response? Still think there's no communal spread?

@plungesponge not in my state. 😆
