Well, Doctors at New York's Mt Sinai are taking it as a prophylactic against catching the disease, so it's either desperation or there is something to it.

@goliathtree There is some evidence that it can help if administered within 4 days of infection so it could be useful in that application.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow There is also anecdotal evidence that in some of the countries where it is widely used as a way to avoid getting malaria that the numbers are reflective of its use.

@goliathtree Malaria is a totally different beast though so I doubt that means much.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow The hydroxychloroquine is widely used as a prophylactic against malaria. The connection had nothing to do with malaria but rather the hydroxychloroquine use. I have no idea, but it would be interesting to know the number of people infected with this disease also have lupus since the drug is also used as a treatment.

@goliathtree My point is anti virals are not a cure all and only work in specific cases so the malaria connection may not matter.
For example cocktails for fighting HIV were tried and ended up going nowhere.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Well, I will leave it to the Doctors to test. I only see correlation because I am an engineer. I am guessing you are not a Dr either so why don't we both hope for the best.

@goliathtree @PicturesOfABetterTomorrow so what do you guys think about Interferon Alfa 2b?
goliathtree · 56-60, M
@Temporallube I get the feeling you will get just as much info from google as you will from the two of us SW Doctors.
