We're on lockdown from Thursday. They're gonna use the military and police to keep us in our houses, we can only go out for essential items. I understand the reasoning, but it seems a bit authoritarian.
@basilfawlty89 Unfortunately the problem seems to be that we can't expect mature adults not to act like rebellious teenagers so it seems to be necessary.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow maybe, but it's still authoritarian keeping people in their homes with threats of imprisonment and fines they can't pay for at gun point.
@basilfawlty89 I would say that is preferable to death. And frankly I have no sympathy for those that demand freedom with no responsibility.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow it's not a question of responsibility to not what armed people outside your house policing your every move. Freedom of movement is a basic democratic right.

@basilfawlty89 Dead people have very little rights
@basilfawlty89 Doing the right and responsible thing is entirely about responsibility. And sometimes the needs of the many outweigh your desire to socialize. New York State alone is now at a point where they will probably have 300 thousand dead because people would not listen and the government worried about the optics of forcing the issue. Voluteerism only works when people think of others and act responsibly.

@SW-User you are aware this isn't Ebola right? The mortality rate isn't that high, most people recover. I agree we should be cautious and especially be careful with the elderly and people who are sick. But losing our minds and acting like all of us are gonna die is not gonna help anyone.
SW-User
@basilfawlty89 So how many deaths would be acceptable to you so that you and others can go about you daily business?
@basilfawlty89 That is a pretty lame statement. In Italy the death rate is nearly 10% but okay. Even the countries with the lowest death rates are 10 times that of the flu. And the bit about it only infecting the elderly is also a myth.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@SW-User did I say go about my daily business? Or am I pointing out that turned an area basically into a police state where you can get fined of you don't please explain whatever your doing is authoritarian.

You realize many people die from the seasonal flu too? How many need to die from that for you to go about your daily business? I don't see you quarantining then. Selfish of you.
SW-User
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Yeah isn’t it - I don’t care if thousands are dying as long as it doesn’t affect me.
@basilfawlty89 Death rate from the flu is .01%

The lowest death rates for covid 19 is 1 to 2%

Not even comparable.
SW-User
@basilfawlty89 🤦‍♂️ Oh my. I guess people like you are the reason we need the lock down.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow and the death rates from TB and HIV or Ebola which we have here? Much higher. No lockdowns for those oddly.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@SW-User I guess people like you are why you have idiots buying all the toilet paper. Maybe you have a privileged life where you don't need to worry about getting paid, the rest of us aren't getting paid and are struggling to afford food and essential services during this time. But hey, fuck the poors right?
SW-User
@basilfawlty89 you clearly have no understanding of exponents?
@basilfawlty89 For some perspective. For your country that is 580 000 potential dead and that is absolute best case scenario without a total lockdown.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@SW-User you clearly have no understanding of wage labour.
SW-User
@basilfawlty89 oh poor you. Here have some toilet paper to dry your eyes. You are the one that basically wants to doing in 1-2% of the population so you can visit McDonalds. How’s that for entitlement? 😂
SW-User
@basilfawlty89 losing the debate the old bate and switch - nice lol
@basilfawlty89 Something to think about. A single person was the initial cause of 50% of the entire outbreak in South Korea. All because one man slipped out of a voluntary quarantine to go to church.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@SW-User I don't even eat McDonald's, you dumb shit. My point is hoe this will affect the working class and the fact that more people die from TB here. But I forget, fuck the poors and the world is America right?
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@SW-User are you also walking around with a useless face mask that doesn't work to stop the virus? Buying up all the toilet paper and sanitizer?
SW-User
@basilfawlty89 Sure whatever you say. I don’t even live in America 😂

Just because you are stupid I will explain this to you . Without the lock down it will be the poor who suffer the most. But why should you care about that you can get your Big Mac fuck everyone else am I right? 😂
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@SW-User you're still fighting that strawman of McDonald's I see. When I didn't even mention McDonald's. I come from a poor family you privileged fuck, my brother is getting no pay this month thanks to this. But I forget, you're the expert on poverty right?
