No why paranoia? Just stay @home and be safe.

@helenS it is paranoia. I see people fucking overloading on sanitizer and face masks. I come from a country with TB and HIV, people are making a bigger deal of this than those diseases. We haven't even had a confirmed case on my area, and now liquor stores close early, restaurants close early, pubs close early, no gatherings of more than 100 people, only 50 people max allowed in pubs and restaurants when they're open including staff, etc.

@basilfawlty89 I think it’s proactive. What do you think will happen when all those with TB and HIV become exposed to the virus? Come on man, where’s the foresight?
helenS · 36-40, F
@basilfawlty89 The number of infected persons doubles every three days, on average. It's not just another flu.
People panic buying tons of toilet paper and emptying groery shelves are an additional problem.

@helenS add that to people freaking out now whenever they see a Chinese person here.

@basilfawlty89 That's just plain ugly racism. It has nothing to the with the epidemic as such. Racists will always find a reason to hate.

@basilfawlty89 This has not been my experience at all. So I don’t know what area you’re in.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@Invocations South Africa. And again, we have bigger worries like HIV and TB which kills far more people than covid-19 has, but the government's response on that has been lackluster in comparison.

@basilfawlty89 yes I know you’re in SA. I am too. Ever thought that perhaps the government is preparing for a worst case scenario. You have medical aid do you? I think the government as far as our government can has done a lot to fight TB and HIV. As far as our government can anyway. Tell me what would you do? What area are you in? And by the way no alcohol is to be served after 6. Places can still remain open, an announcement has just been made.
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@Invocations actually I get my psych meds from the provincial hospital. Which never has toilet paper or soap, but yeah, the government is totally doing a great job of things.

@basilfawlty89 exactly, point in case - So I’d say avoidance is better than nothing. Where are you?
basilfawlty89 · 36-40, M
@Invocations furthermore do you really think people won't drink outside of those hours, or that bottle stores closing early will stop people from drinking? They'll just buy alcohol earlier. Ramaphosa's reasoning of saying that it's because alcohol compromises the immune system and this will prevent alcohol consumption is horseshit. I'm going to buy a bottle of vodka tomorrow before 6. I'm still getting drunk.
Invocations · F
@basilfawlty89 ok so what would you do? Eh?
Of course they’ll drink if they want to drink, I never hearD him say that it compromises the immune system. I heard that it was because of impaired judgement in public spaces.
Where are you?
