What should I expect?

There is a high chance of me going inpatient in a little while and I am scared of the unknown. I have never done it before. Please help me understand what to expect.

There are good nurses and there are bad nurses. Don't piss off the good nurses.

Be interested in your own health. Pay attention. Even they get things wrong (miss the fact you're on a med that conflicts with another med).

Never lie. Just be honest. It will make everything easier.

Pay attention at the end. You just want to go home but that's when you hear all the important stuff.

You're not going to sleep well. Bring a mask for your eyes and something for your ears if you can.

Be modest but realize a lot of people are going to see a lot of your body parts. There's nothing sexual about it.
My experience was a long time ago. The staff was kind but they have a routine. If you do your best not to interfere with them and don't give them a hard time, it will be easier.

They are doing what they are ordered to do. If there's a rule about smoking or going outside or whatever, it's not their rule and it's pointless to argue with them.

Try to be open and honest with the staff. Share all the knowledge you have about your illness. That will help them help you.

Don't be afraid. It's nobody's idea of a fun party, but if you work with the staff, the rest of your life might just be starting.

Good luck, honey.
Leave anything that has drawstrings or shoelaces at home. Even the drawstrings of a hoodie. Bring a list of all medication. Bring change for phone calls and vending machines. Bring good socks and comfy slippers. Bring things to read. Leave all jewelry at home. Bring favorite blanket and bathrobe. Hope you feel better soon.

Don't do anything silly. You need to take off your mind and focus on future.
