Is it bad to google your symptoms?

Just googled nosebleeds and then brain cancer and death popped up, guess that's not a good idea.

When diagnosed with something called "acid reflux", a condition new to me in both senses, I looked it up on 't'Net.

However I was careful to use the National Health Service site, not some Home Hypochondria Help blog of unknown provenance, or "Magic Medicine for Most Malaises" advertisements!
