Looking to lose 50 lbs, any fitness advice and motivation?

Looking for some motivation to be consistent in the gym and consistent with healthy eating. I’ve been on again and off again with the gym due to life. I’ve gained quite a bit of weight and I’m looking to lose about 50LBS as well as to be toned.

Any tips? Advice? Exercise recommendations that I won’t get bored with? I’m a little intimated by weights but I know they help. I enjoy cardio very much.

If you have any success stories I would love to hear.

Thank You.

Diet is more important than exercise, or so I have been told. Most of my weight loss myself came out about via calorie management/restriction, rather than exercise.
But it's important to keep your eye on the goal. Don't just stop when you plateau. If it worked at one point, keep going!

@DDonde I don't eat enough to restrict calories. My metabolism was just really slow. Bad thyroid/ also not eating. So, challenging my body with exercise was all that worked when I started gaining weight. Bodies are so weird.

@SW-User Ah yeah, I suppose there's other factors in there as well.
All in all, it's about figuring out what works for you and sticking with it until you've hit the goal. A lot of people just give up when something stops working or they don't get the results they wanted.

@DDonde you're absolutely right. Also, they don't transition into a regular sustainable workout after their goals are met. Creating that exercise/diet yo-yo.

@SW-User yeah. You have to make lifestyle changes, not just temporary ones.

@SW-User Or at least change the way you think about food (in my case)

@DDonde yeah. Me too, in the opposite way.

@DDonde I truly despise plateaus, I admit they are discouraging, but I will push through. Thank you
