Are depression and anxiety actually treatable?

It’s absolutely untrue.
SW-User
depends. if you really think about it it's all in your head. I get depressive episodes reliving my past and when that happens I literally slap myself to snap oit of it and motivate myself that I'm a survivor not a victim. and I go to the gym or go outside and get some fresh air and sun. sometimes people need a reality check and realise that people go through shit. but its literally up to "YOU" to change that. as for anxiety, it's just fear that needs to be overcome. once you face it, you'll realise theres nothing to be afraid of and it was just all in your head.

@SW-User I guess you’re right, but is that treating it?
Also, you are misunderstanding anxiety greatly. I’m talking about generalized anxiety disorder in this post.
They are treatable and manageable. Sometimes it takes quite a while to find the right treatments for an individual. You have to find the right combination of medications and the right therapist. It's a lot of trial and error. Stick with it. It will pay off in the long run.

@quitwhendone Oh, yeah...it’s been 5 fucking years of medication that hasn’t worked. And I had a wonderful therapist. Then I moved to college

I think that depends on how bad it is speaking from experience nobody could help me so I had to help myself get better. I still suffer from both but over the years it’s gotten less bad.

@SW-User you have treatment-resistant depression too?
It is treatable and can be managed, but there isn't a cure.
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@AmbivalentFriability What's the difference between a cure and a treatment?
@ShaythePanTransMan A cure means it won't come back.
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@AmbivalentFriability Oh...I see. Then what is a treatment?
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
For many people, yes.
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@ChipmunkErnie Why can’t I be one of those “many people”?
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@ShaythePanTransMan I know -- I wish I was one of them, too, at times. :(
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
Treatable, maybe.....but not curable.
ShaythePanTransMan · 22-25, T
@DragonFruit And that’s really sad.
