I think there comes a point where the roles have to reverse.
Speaking personally. My Father grew more distant after he left home when I was 10.
We were in and out of each others lives for a long time.
Then once I had independence and was living on my own he seemed to want to be part of my life.
And then of course as you partner-up and look to having children of your own the relationship changes again.
But persist with it. More on what you can build rather than what you wish it were.
