Are you afraid to become someone you hate but realize youre slowly becoming them?

For years I've grown to despise my father. Not only for his cynical and bitter demeanor but also the fact he always seemed so distant and difficult to build a relation with? We never had father to son talks. I didnt learn about life lessons or the birds and the bees from him. We never went on fishing trips or tossed a football around. Now that I'm getting older I'm understanding why he is so cynical about the world. Why he always seems angry or frustrated.
