Thanks to the motivators. I have completed a 40 minutes run.

Question is what should I eat just after the run?

That is not a long run in the overall context of what humans are able to do. You probably only burned 500 calories. We have 2,000 calories of glycogen in our muscles and liver and enough fat for days and days of activity. Your run needs no specific intake of anything to aid in recovery. All of those beliefs about timing and content of food or drink after exercise are promoted by companies and not backed up by any science. Read “Good To Go” if you want more detail.

@SW-User then, can I run 40 minutes daily, I read somewhere that you should not run more than 2.5hours a week in general.

@TheOrionbeltseeker of course you can run 40 minutes daily. Where did you read that about 2.5 hours? Depending on your goals I would suggest one longer run per week and one shorter but faster run. The bulk of it though is the slow steady runs and 40 minutes is a fine place to be until you feel like you can bump it up.

@TheOrionbeltseeker That just says that the longevity benefits top out at 4.5 hours per week. There’s a lot of health benefits to gain as you get the running volume up.

@SW-User can you please get me to an article or tell me some of the benefits?
SW-User
@TheOrionbeltseeker what are you trying to achieve?

@SW-User I don't know. Just walked in the door.
I started with 5 minutes, it was fun. Then went to 12 minutes then 18 then 24 then 28 then 32 then 39 then 42 and my last run was 48, it's been 8 months till now.
