Why do eye doctors ask when you had your last period ?

weirded me out this question today...

It does sound very strange. Maybe because our pituitary gland, which is behind your eyes, controls your endocrine system(hormonal stuff). If there is a small cyst/mass it can stop your menstrual or maybe make it worse. The very same cyst/mass can put pressure on the optic nerve and affect your vision.

I'm sure there can be other reasons. I'm just assuming.

Thanks :) I've actually read up on the pituitary a long time ago. But I was guessing it could be a reason they ask.
you could be correct.the newer drs. may be asking now.
