tapeworm diet

@poisonouscupcake A doctor started that one, my uncle told me about it. He had a weight loss clinic and guaranteed the patients that they would lose weight, gave them a capsule to swallow, told them they could eat what they wanted and to come back when they met their goal. Then he’d give them another pill (to kill the tapeworm). He got found out and I believe it was in the 1950’s.
@cherokeepatti That's so gross. But I can see how it would work. There are probably more people with intestinal parasites than we think. (Especially if they eat sushi.)

@PhoenixPhail parasites can be really dangerous. Bore through the intestine and lodge near the spine and cause horrible pain. Nothing shows up on an x-ray and most doctors don’t even think of checking for parasites with a blood test when a patient complains of excruciating pain.
@cherokeepatti That's a good point.

@PhoenixPhail There was a man here who went to about 2 dozen doctors for his back pain and they could find nothing. He was about to give up hurting all the time. Someone told him about a chiropractor in Kansas that might could help him. He made a trip up there and the chiropractor had him to lay down and told him not to tell where it hurt. He ran a metal disc thing over his back and then told the man where it hurt and he agreed. He told him he would run a blood test and it came back positive for parasites. He told the man he would give him a pill to kill the parasite and if it still hurt to come back and he would give him another pill (sometimes takes 2 doses)...this was on a Friday and he still hurt so he went back on Monday and got the second pill and it worked, his pain stopped. He had a parasite lodge in his back next to the spinal cord and it was just about to kill him with pain.
@cherokeepatti Good story. Leave it to the alternative doc to figure it out.

@PhoenixPhail Imagine how much money it cost the insurance company and that man to visit those 2 dozen medical doctors who didn’t have a clue about parasites and back pain...Probably didn’t cost that man as much to visit the chiropractor that cured him as it did for even one of those specialists.
