Have you ever had an allergic or bad reaction to Catscan Contrast or MRI Contrast?

[c=#BF0080]Was it a developed allergy or the first time you had it? What did it feel like?

I “developed” an allergy to the contrast they use for my MRI’s(gadolinium) years ago. If I need contrast I have to be prepped w/prednisone for a couple of days and the scans have to be done in a hospital. I had severe tightness in my chest and couldn’t breathe, the nurse acted as if it was in my head but the Dr told me it was a developed allergy and the next time can be fatal w/out the steroid prep.

I had a reaction to the Catscan Contrast as well, but not a common one. The warmth they say you should feel throughout your body felt like fire burning throughout my entire body. I tried to see if anyone else had a reaction online and found two people, but like me it wasn’t understood by their Dr’s. [/c]

The med they used for me when they did the second part of my stress test made me deathly ill. I spent the rest of my day in ICU. The name of it was
Persantine

@Mondayschild [c=#BF0080]That’s horrible! Did you have any effects after from it too? Like long term? Is that a contrast?[/c]
@MellyMel22 yes it is a contrast and I was released that evening. I haven't had any long term effects but I do have it in my records as an allergy

@Mondayschild [c=#BF0080]Thank God you didn’t have long term effects! Was it a breathing thing that made you so ill?[/c]
