I have long-term sleep issues, mainly waking up after 4 hours and not getting back to sleep. Medication is only a temporary fix. I have found that huge amounts of exercise helps along with possible changes to diet if needed. Also going to bed earlier and having no noise helps too.

@SW-User hmmmm. I regularly exercise and have dropped 15 kgs. I don't take any medication and make sure I do not eat later than 7. I find I get 5 good hrs then start getting restless. I am wondering if it is age related.

@Hanging2 Good point, i wonder if it is too. Because your issue sounds like mine. I was fine until i got to about 40 then my sleep did just what you describe. I have found that exercise doesn't help unless i do so much that i'm almost wrecked. But then i get one great night sleep and then the bad sleep comes back. It's not a solution. I also find that if i take a mild sleeping tablet like Temazepam before i go to sleep, then i sleep all the way through and wake up feeling fantastic. But sleeping meds are not able to be used regularly for a number of reasons so no solution there either. It's been going on for me now for about 7 years and i'm out of options. I got tested for sleep apnea and it's not that.

@SW-User my missus sleeps like a log so it annoys me. I have been looking into meditation and thinking of giving it a go.

@Hanging2 Let me know if it helps. I'm out of ideas now and am sick of feeling constantly exhausted.
