51% of millennials have no romantic partner.

I heard on the radio this morning that 51% of millennials have no romantic partner.
WTF? Do you care to offer your ideas to explain?
Millennials: Born 1981-1996 (22-37 years old)

[I am suggesting that 51% sounds like a big number of people not in a committed relationship at an age when couples historically are building futures together.]

I want to know how someone who was born in 1981 is a millennial. A millennial is surely someone who grew up in the 2000 and who was born in the early 2000s.

@Gingerbreadspice The point was people between 18 and 34 don't have committed romantic partners is about 51%.

@Gingerbreadspice I looked it up on the Inter-web.
It must be true!

@Gingerbreadspice I agree that the upper boundary of millennials fits better into the previous generation. That said, I guess we need to take that up with the scholars because the age range OP posted is what they generally use.

@SwampFlower Thanks for the back up.

@Gingerbreadspice If you were born in the early 2000s, you are a Gen Z'er
I would assume someone who was born in the 80s would be a child of the 90s and someone who was born in the 90s would be a millennial.

@Gingerbreadspice Any comment about the thrust of the post?
51% of people 22-37 years old have no partner.
I don’t know. Maybe a lot are between relationships. Probably it’s likely they’re not committed at age 22 but might be by age 30 so it might be true. Doesn’t mean they didnt ever have a partner though.
