Is coffee really that bad for you (and the baby) when you're pregnant?

My husband and I were having a small discussion about it.
I asked the experts about it and she answered something like "well you should try and limit it to maybe 1 cup a day".
My husband said "Obviously she means you shouldn't drink any!"
While other family members say "it shouldn't be much of a problem, just limit your total caffeïne intake during the day"
I'm totally confused :/ I try to avoid it all together, but honestly sometimes I just really want a cup of coffee or 2.

I can’t imagine that caffeine would be on a list of healthy beverages for a pregnant mom to be.

@SimplyTracie Of course not, I do realize that. But you could say that about your general lifestyle too and then it would mean you should never drink soft drinks, energy drinks, coffee, etc. Or eat certain kinds of food. It seems a bit exaggerated at times. I'm already eating wayyyy healthier than before the pregnancy and this would actually pretty much count as the only "more unhealthy thing" I do 🤔 so idk XD but thanks, I do know what you mean and I do try to limit it, it's not even a daily usage of coffee at the moment.

@kimmy159 Having said that, I’m sure you’ll be fine having a cup of coffee now and then. It does help you cope I’m sure. But I was thinking more of baby’s well being than yours. 😊

@SimplyTracie Thanks ^^ I appreciate the input :D
I'm also putting the baby first it's just really really hard to suddenly scrap all of your bad habits XD This is like the only one left that I find really hard to avoid ;p I had one cup of coffee this morning and I'm like battling myself not to get a second one all morning XD

@kimmy159 Trust me, I know the struggles of giving something up that so good. One day at a time. 😂

@SimplyTracie I'm starting to understand why so many women are only "able" to change their lifestyle after having been pregnant for the first time. I gave up on a lot of unhealthy stuff (foodwise) and started eating much healthier and more regular too ^^ I think it would be good to also try this after the pregnancy haha :D

@kimmy159 You should try that. 😊
