Would you not want to know as much as you can about your spouse/S/O 's illness so that you knew how you can help in some way ?

I’m assuming I would want to help care for them, and if I were their legal spouse it might even involve interaction with doctors on their behalf. So it would behoove me to know as much as I could understand.
