Stressed by minor things that shouldn't stress
Tightness in chest
Mild feelings of not wanting to mix with people
Disturbed sleep

If a panic attack may be going to happen:
Shortness of breath
Difficulty in swallowing and choking on water or food
Claustraphobia
Paranoia and the need to be alone and focus on relaxing
Sometimes heart palpitations

@SW-User Yes, yes, yes and YES!

@SW-User The really annoying thing is that it never seems to be triggered by any kind of event, it just happens randomly. So it's not like i'm weak or can't cope with conflict or busy work places etc. I can be sitting alone relaxing and it can happen. My theory is that my stress mechanism has become out of whack or hypersensitive due to having huge amounts of stress when i was a kid.
SW-User
@SW-User Exactly! My doctor kept trying to figure out what was causing it. I kept telling him, nothing!
SW-User
@SW-User I know, it's hard to find out a reason for it. I also never talk to people about it in real life because they don't understand and just think it actually means that i'm weak and actually unable to cope with situations etc which isn't true. But it's no different to having a reoccurring knee injury or something that just flares up for no reason.
SW-User
@SW-User You got that right! I keep it hidden. I never EVER told my former employer that it was why I was missing so much work. I really don't think they would have gotten it. Few do. An excellent therapist I had years ago said it can often be caused by abandonment in our childhood.
SW-User
@SW-User I'm exactly the same, and that is interesting as i had that abandonment issue when i was 7 and got sent to a boarding school.
SW-User
@SW-User It really does have an affect on your brain chemistry I think. I was 12 when my dad ran off with another woman and abandoned his children.
SW-User
@SW-User That must have felt awful going through that at that age. When i read about people who had a stable homelife and a happy childhood especially at school, i really can't quite understand how great that must have been.
SW-User
@SW-User Mine was stable and happy up until then. He had been having an affair for six years and none of us knew.

I would imagine being sent to boarding school at 7 would have been terrifying!
