i tried it for four days. worse than street drugs. truly awful stuff.

@pentacorn Oh no! What happened?
pentacorn · F
well, it was supposed to be for low-grade constant anxiety, and for the first two days it seem to be helping, but then i ended up crying continuously for no reason at all. started feeling better within 24 hours of quitting it.

then they tried low-dose antidepressants on me, but that just increased my anxiety symptoms.

after extensive research on my own, i decided to get my hormone levels checked and started taking bio identical hormones, and now I feel much, much better.

you’re welcome, @SW-User

@pentacorn My doc just prescribed it. I am waiting until the weekend to start it. Just in case...

@pentacorn How do you get your hormone levels checked?
pentacorn · F
@SW-User that’s a good idea. that way you’re in a safe environment while you assess how it’s going to affect you. i wish you the best!

@purplepen you can ask any doctor to test your blood levels, or you can find a compounding pharmacy that will do a test via your saliva. also a compounding pharmacy can recommend a doctor who will prescribe bio identicals. they have a good track record in European countries for over 50 years, unlike American synthetic hormone replacement.

@pentacorn Thx for the info. I'm in Canada and the Drs here rarely want to do anything except mammograms and pap tests.

@purplepen yeah, universal healthcare has its pitfalls, but also Canada seems to be pretty progressive with medical treatments, so you should be able to get your levels checked. if you aren’t menopausal, likely only some progesterone cream will do the trick. here it’s not a controlled substance and can be found at health food stores. it comes with explicit directions, so maybe do a little reading and find out if that might be an option for you. Emarita makes a very good progesterone cream. i needed estrogen as well so i insisted on a level check and a prescription. by prescription it’s more concentrated so you don’t have to use as much cream. i hope you get it sorted, and best wishes to you!

@pentacorn Thx. I'm going to hold off on it for now but it's good to know.
