What are your thoughts on men being in charge of women’s healthcare?

People seem to think there's no issue here. There really is.

There's major, serious problems that result from decisions about womens' healthcare being almost entirely made by men.

Doctors assume women in pain are being dramatic. A study came out this month that talked about how menstrual pain can be as bad as a heart attack. Menstruation isn't exactly new. Why are we just learning this now? Because western doctors believed that period pain was largely make believe, or some sort of mystical necessity. Men who complain about pain get pain meds, women get sedatives.

The clitoris wasn't discovered until 1998 which is just shockingly recent. Nobody cared to look before then.

And of course, access to basic reproductive health services are profoundly restricted in many areas. There's so much legislation about womens' authority over their own bodies and nothing equivalent for men.

@CountScrofula until men have actually fainted from menstrual cramps they can keep their mouths shut.

@Freudianslip13 I think you have this well in hand. I shall leave you to it. Do what you do. *bows out*
@CountScrofula I have never had these problems. I have had 3 full blown heart attacks with surgery and having a period is so much more uncomfortable. I guess I have just had different experience.
@for2ak3nXIII thank you. Awesome responses btw!

@Mondayschild Keep in mind that we're talking on average. So there are absolutely gonna be women, or entire hospitals that are fantastic in dealing with female patients and it's great that you've found them. :)

Here's a really good article on the subject. It may not affect you, but it does affect other people.

@Freudianslip13 I try. I might be vulgar and a wise ass but I hate the fucked up system we have where people die needlessly all because of what comes down to a 50/50 mix of male pride and entitlement. I always got your back my friend *first bump*
@for2ak3nXIII appreciated!
@Freudianslip13 these men are confusing.
@Mondayschild some of them are.

It wasn't? What had I been rubbing and sucking and licking since 1978?

@HerKing In its entirety. The tip sticks out but there's a huge organ there that surrounds the vagina, which is why it's so powerful. Nobody knew that there was more to the clitoris than that tiny tip until super recently.
