Do you choose the fetish or does the fetish choose you?

If it is a real fetish like diagnosed by the psychologist you absolutely do not pick it, it starts developing before you even know what it is. I think it hit around puberty, there might have been some earlier thoughts but it came on like gangbusters at puberty and sticks for life.
