It doesn't help, but I also know getting out of bed while depressed is incredibly hard.

I don't know personally but I know it's believed that routine and setting yourself little goals daily can help..

Sometimes just life causes depression. Laying down and forgetting about the world for a while helps.

I think being depressed and moody causes you to lay down... Makes me sleep a lot because I don't want to face the world.

Yeah an absence of physical activity and productivity could lead to depression, but that would be the direct causes, laying down all day would just be causing it by proxy. The way to help the person in question get healthy is to encourage them to be active and productive, not to just stop laying down.

I don't think so, if we are talking about teenagers, they need much more rest than we allow them, developing bodies burn a lot of energy. If we are talking about an adult, they may already be depressed since lethargy is a symptom of depression.

I think a person generally feels much better when there´s something to do and when he´s in motion but I don´t think you can get depression by just lying down too much, it´s an illness

I doubt it. But it's probably a symptom of depression/moodiness.
