What's your preferred method of getting rid of pain?

First I try distraction. A shower in a temperature I normally cannot bare. I have tried to sooth myself in distraction. Taking a walk, Looking for something I misplaced last week. Simply attempting to change my focus. Migraines are often soothed by taking a hot shower.
Water hammering/pounding down on the spot that pains the most. Then sometimes, there is a break. I feel the release, the ability to escape for just a fraction of time.
See, it's all about changing ones focus.
