Have you and your mental health professional reached your goal?

The point where they say we can continue your sessions but you now have all the tools necessary to live a productive life. I get the feeling that a lot of them don't ever tell patients that.

Dont get me wrong for people in genuine confusion or pain i can see the need for pyschs, but for most of us( who arent clinically insane) its only going to do a certain amount of good. The mental health person is not going to be able to perform your actions for you. Give you some insight perhaps

@lakergoy Well see that's why I mentioned the tools

Ok but if you're brilliant enough to be a mental health provider but just dont give a crap for society's conventions.... What good are any more tools going to give you? Why pay someone to attempt to fix something they cant change?and i didnt metion the cash end of the equation. Which will make the s-c-a-m word cross my lips momentarily

@lakergoy I've found it very helpful but I was effectively "clinically insane" So I don't know I can Argue with your argument lol Other than I've seen self development classes for assertion and confidence help "sane" women who can't assert themselves and get walked over and I've seen domestic abuse lessons help victims who are "sane" So I think certain personalities and certain situations benefit from therapy or self development without the person being insane.

Thats true. I was taking his statement into my own little view of the world. I sharply define someone that is clinically insane as someone who is suffering hallucinations, cant decipher reality around them, or prone to uncontrollable violent outburst. The next step down is trauma victims and obsessive disorders, i dont consider that insane but as you pointed out they can benifit from therapy. Then you have the cash cow of them all. Addiction. Many paths to it but unless you CHOOSE to get out of it with or without help, no amount of talking is going to help

@lakergoy the talking helps people choose.

Thats true. I've just seen so many in my life that won't/aren't going to change... Myself included. Fortunately im not on the powder/pills express but once somebody gets on that ride, you cant pull them off. They have to jump

@lakergoy yes. They like people on meds alot of doctors. I had a brilliant doctor who didn't like meds and liked alot of therapy - which is much better in the long run I feel.
