I just had my annual prostate check. PSA blood test and a rectal exam. Been doing this for over 20 years. The PSA is okay but has its limitations. The rectal exam has limitations but both are simple to do so I do both.
The PSA is like any other blood test. You get stuck in a vien so some minor e discomfort. Results usually come back in a couple of days. The rectal exam is not painful. The doctor uses lubricant and the finger slides in easily. You feel some pressure as your prostate is examined. Some times it spasms a bit but it’s not painful. The results are reported immediately.

I have. It beats the more "traditional" text but my internist insists on both.

PSA is not always recommended anymore because it leads to overtreatment. If your test suggests prostate cancer, relax and don't do anything rash. It's time to discuss it with your MD and look at your options. "Watchful waiting" is often the best. Many prostate cancers will never be life threatening. Still, it's good to know there is a potential problem.

Good idea, my uncle passed away from prostate cancer. At least he got to stay home instead of a hospital. Great post, hope other guys see this and do the same thing.🍀

I think it is...and then if any other tests are needed, they go from there.
