Why Couldn't I Do 50-minutes?

Today, I started a high intensity cardio workout that was 50-minutes long. Lots of jumps, jacks, etc. I've done it before to completion, although it was challenging. Today, I got to 22-minutes, and knew I was "done in," so went to the cool down. I was exhausted. Could it have anything to do with the heavy weight lifting day I did yesterday? It was only upper body, but it was intense and an hour long. Would that really have an effect on my energy level today?

What do you think?

Yes, you need to give your body time to recover, no matter what exercises you are doing and HIIT are certainly a drainer. Go to the gym and work out every other day not every day, it'll be better for you as it'll give your body time to make improvements and allow you to do more in the gym.

Do you mean do my weight training and cardio on the same days?@impulsive

@Carissimi Personally I used to split my mine out so 1 day would be my cardio day and the other my weights. After I found I had less time for the gym I started doing some of my old cardio routines at the start along with my weights. I'm thinking I might primarily focus on my weight training though

@Carissimi althoguh to add I would not do HIIT workouts on the same day as your weights, those are a real drainer and will just make it really tiring for you to do weights so you wouldn't get as much benefit out of them.

@impulsive 10-years ago, I had a personal trainer, and was in the best shape of my life. Weights and cardio on same days 3/week. I lost weight and looked great without dieting. Now, it seems no matter what I do, I can't get that back. I have built some muscle, I'm stronger and aerobically fitter, but can't seem to get the same shape and physique. I think a trainer pushes you harder than yourself.

@Carissimi I can agree with that, i don't have a trainer but i used to go alot with my brother and you can do alot more with someone else there to motivate you
