Is polygamy dangerous? Does it create harm for the females psychologically?

I have been in and seen many poly relationships. I have observed many girls take guys who would have been better off as my 3rd wife than being 1st wife to the 1 they ended up with.
The parameters to treating multiple wives are the same as for 1. Everyone needs to be honest & kind & caring.
